Johanna Matsetela, occupational therapist

Johanna Matsetela is a qualified occupational therapist with experience across mental health, physical rehabilitation, paediatrics, pain management, and substance use contexts. She has a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of Pretoria and a Postgraduate Diploma in Addictions Care from the University of Cape Town.

Her clinical work focuses on assessing functional challenges and developing interventions that support participation in everyday activities, whether at home, in educational or work environments, or within the broader community. Her practice is informed by an understanding of how physical, emotional, cognitive, and environmental factors interact and influence function over time.

Johanna also works as a Substance Use Disorder professional, providing screening, assessment, and treatment services for individuals and groups at different stages of recovery. This work includes structured assessment of substance use severity, outpatient intervention, and group-based therapeutic support, delivered with an ethical and evidence-based framework.

Outside of clinical work, Johanna values activities that support balance, movement, and sustained focus. Her interests include fitness training, cycling, swimming, gardening, tennis, and board games. These interests reflect Johanna’s practical appreciation for problem-solving and active engagement.
